Pharmaceutical company Pfizer confirmed that a large complex was damaged by a twister that tore through the Rocky Mount area, but said in an email that it had no reports of serious injuries at the facility.

The Pfizer plant stores large quantities of medicine that were tossed about by the storm, Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said, adding, “I’ve got reports of 50,000 pallets of medicine that are strewn across the facility and damaged through the rain and the wind.”

Miami has endured a heat index of at 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more for weeks, with temperatures expected to rise this weekend.

In Kentucky, meteorologists warned of a “life-threatening situation” in the communities of Mayfield and Wingo, inundated by flash flooding from waves of thunderstorms. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency Wednesday to help stricken communities as more storms threatened.

The National Weather Service also issued flash flood watches and warnings in parts of states near Kentucky. Forecasters expect up to 10 inches of rain could fall on Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri in an area where the Ohio and Mississippi rivers converge.

Phoenix, a desert city of more than 1.6 million people, had set a separate record Tuesday among U.S. cities by marking 19 straight days of temperatures of 110 degrees Fahrenheit or more.

No other major city –- defined as the 25 most populous in the U.S. -– has had any stretch of 110-degree days or 90-degree nights longer than Phoenix, said weather historian Christopher Burt of the Weather Company.

On Tuesday, Phoenix had reached 117 degrees by 3 p.m. Many residents were confined indoors, turning the usually vibrant metropolis into a ghost town.

The region has also seen 38 consecutive days with a heat index threshold of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

“And in addition to that we have very warm sea surface temperatures that are five to seven degrees Fahrenheit warmer than normal … there really is no immediate relief in sight,” Pine said.

And in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, searchers are still seeking two young siblings visiting from South Carolina who became trapped in what one fire chief called “a wall of water” that hit their family and killed their mother Saturday. Four others also died in those flash floods.

New York Mets pitcher Carlos Carrasco beat chronic myelogenous leukemia in 2019 when he was a member of the Cleveland Guardians. This week, Hendriks and Carrasco are in opposing dugouts, but the cancer survivors will forever be a part of the same inspiring team.

The big league pitchers teamed up to host pediatric cancer patients from Cohen Children’s Medical Center at Citi Field. The special guests visited the Queens ballpark as part of Carrasco’s “Cookie’s Kids” program.

The children also received lunch, giveaways and tickets to a future Mets game.

“The one thing I always try and stress is: You’re not alone,” Hendriks said. “Reach out, talk to people. Don’t be worried about talking to a therapist. Don’t be worried about talking to people about it. You remove the stigma of the word ‘cancer.’ The more you talk about it, the lighter you start feeling. It takes that weight off of you.”

Hendriks, a three-time MLB All-Star from Australia, has been on the injured list since June 11 with right elbow inflammation. The 34-year-old threw some pitches off the mound at Citi Field during a simulated game as he continues to rehabilitate his injured elbow.

“It was great today, being able to talk to him about his stuff, what he went through and kind of relate the stories,” Hendriks told reporters.

“And then to hear some of the kids talk about their treatment plans and everything, it’s always really cool. It takes the edge off. … You’re trying to remove the stigma of going through treatment and not being able to talk about it.”

The man, whose name hasn’t been released to the public at the time of publication, was bit on Monday, July 17, in the Alexander Springs Recreation Area at Ocala National Forest, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS). 

The news release states that the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. and the man “suffered puncture wounds and lacerations.”

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was called to the scene and removed an alligator that fit the man’s description Monday afternoon, which measured 7.5 feet in length.

“In most cases, the alligator is processed for its hide and meat, which is the primary source of compensation for their services,” the FWC wrote in an email. “Occasionally, a nuisance alligator is sold alive to an alligator farm, animal exhibit or zoo.”

FOX 35 Orlando reports that the trapper who handled the removal had to dispatch the animal.

The agency went on to say temporary closures are necessary after “aggressive wildlife encounters.”

Last week, the Alexander Springs swim area was briefly closed for a different alligator encounter and removal, which marked a first for Ocala National Forest this year, according to USFS.

In May, a Florida man had to have his right arm amputated after a 10-foot alligator bit him outside of a bar in Port Charlotte, a census-designated place in Southwest Florida, Fox News Digital previously reported.

“All reptiles are more active and need to eat more during this hot season,” the USFS wrote in a statement. “Please use caution, in and around water (including on shoreline). Follow all posted and prescribed safety guidance.”

The USFS added that alligators can easily camouflage with their environment and cannot be easily detected in water.

“Every body of water has the potential to have an alligator,” the FWC wrote to Fox News Digital. “Floridians and visitors should take precautionary measures when in or near the water to reduce the chances of conflicts with alligators.”

The statement went on, “FWC encourages people not to swim early in the morning or late at night when alligators are more active. If you see an alligator, keep a safe distance and do not feed them.”

Paltrow, 50, explained women being judged more than men for aging is “culture’s problem” in a new interview, as she revealed her skincare and workout routine.

“I think it’s culture’s problem [that women seem to be judged more on getting older than men]. It’s not ours!” she told British Vogue. “As women, we want to be healthy, we want to be aging. This idea that we’re supposed to be frozen in time is so weird.”

The Texas case is believed to be the first brought by women who were denied abortions since the right to an abortion in the U.S. was overturned, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights, which is representing them.

The case before a Texas judge in Austin does not seek to reverse the state’s abortion ban, which is one of the strictest in the country. It instead asks the court for clarity on when exceptions are allowed in Texas, where the women say they were told they could not end their pregnancies even though their lives and health were in danger.

Current GOP Commissioner Josh Dobson announced last year that he wouldn’t seek a second four-year term. Formal candidate filing begins this coming December, with any primaries scheduled for March 2024.

In private practice and as Solicitor General of D.C., she attacked people of faith, including Sikhs. She opposed the right to assemble for worship, the right of religious organizations to choose teachers of faith and the right of faith-based groups to choose how to form without government interference. Her attacks on the First Amendment to the Constitution are far outside the mainstream and have been rejected by many courts.

Indeed, AliKhan’s arguments were too extreme for all 9 members of the U.S. Supreme Court.  In the 2012 case Hosanna Tabor v. EEOC,  AliKhan’s extreme legal theory, if adopted, would have essentially eviscerated the first freedom of the Constitution. Her brief took aim at the ministerial exception, which is a religious employer’s First Amendment right to make decisions about hiring and firing ministers without government interference.

FEDERAL COURT DELIVERS MAJOR BLOW TO BIDEN’S RADICAL EQUITY AGENDA

The Supreme Court was not the only court to reject AliKhan’s First Amendment theories. She proved too extreme for the District Court of District of Columbia, the very court to which AliKhan is currently nominated.  In 2020, D.C. barred gatherings of people of faith from assembling for worship but permitted massive gatherings for political protests.  In Capitol Hill Baptist Church v. Bowser, AliKhan tried—and failed—to justify this differential treatment based on religion.  As a consequence of her loss in court, D.C. taxpayers were ordered to reimburse the church $220,000 in legal fees.

AliKhan’s views were also too extreme again for the D.C. Court of Appeals when she opposed the religious liberty rights of Sikhs to build a temple in the nation’s capital. The Sikh temple, National Gurdwara, has struggled over the years to have funding to stay in operation, and closed in 2012. 

Sikhs who worshipped at the Gurdwara also were involved in Jawant Sawhney Irrevocable Trust, a religious organization that funds an international charity serving orphans, the homeless, and people with disabilities outside D.C. In 2013, the trust filed a request for a property tax exemption to fund the reopening and operate the temple. However, AliKhan opposed the trust’s religious exemption in Jaswant Sawhney Irrevocable Trust, Inc. v. District of Columbia.

The U.S. Supreme Court and other federal judges voted against AliKhan’s extreme legal theories about the First Amendment. First Liberty Institute, along with a coalition of diverse organizations, has submitted a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee opposing her nomination. 

The U.S. Senate should vote against AliKhan’s extreme legal views and stop her from becoming a district judge.

Goldman pressed IRS supervisor Gary Shapley, who previously blew the whistle on alleged political influence surrounding prosecutorial decisions throughout the federal probe into the president’s son, about whether the president had any connection to his son’s business dealings. 

“Hunter told his dad, according to (Biden family business associate) Rob Walker, ‘I may be trying to start a company or try to do something with these guys,'” Goldman said. “Now let me ask you something. That doesn’t sound much like Joe Biden was involved in whatever Hunter Biden was doing with the (Chinese oil and natural gas company) CEFC if Hunter Biden is telling him that he’s trying to do business with them, does it?”

Moments earlier he referred to messages on WhatsApp that said President Biden only sat with his son and never discussed business dealings. 

Another IRS employee, special agent Joseph Ziegler, whose identity was revealed during the hearing, testified before the committee that the president’s youngest son raked in over $17 million from business deals in China, Ukraine and Romania, beginning while his father was vice president.

Those deals included multimillion-dollar payments to Biden family-linked companies from 2014 to 2019, including $7.3 million from Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.

Zieler and Shapley allege that the officials at the Justice Department, FBI and IRS interfered in the investigation into Hunter Biden, moves they said were politically motivated.

Ziegler appeared for the first time publicly before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, alongside his IRS supervisor Gary Shapley, who also has blown the whistle on political influence surrounding prosecutorial decisions throughout the years-long federal probe into the president’s son.

Ziegler said he is a 13-year special agent within the IRS’ Criminal Investigation Division and described himself as a “gay Democrat married to a man.”

He testified that Hunter Biden “should have been charged with a tax felony, and not only the tax misdemeanor charge,” and that communications and text messages reviewed by investigators “may be a contradiction to what President Biden was saying about not being involved in Hunter’s overseas business dealings.”

Ziegler asked Congress and the Biden administration to “consider a special counsel” for the Hunter Biden investigation and “all the related cases and spin-off investigations that have come forward from this investigation.”

Ziegler said specifically that Congress should consider “establishing an official channel for Federal investigators to pull the emergency cord and raise the issue of the appointment of a special counsel for consideration by your senior officials.”

FORMER FBI AGENT CONFIRMS KEY DETAILS OF HUNTER BIDEN WHISTLEBLOWER’S TESTIMONY, GOP SAYS

“After an electronic search warrant on Hunter Biden’s Apple iCloud account led us to WhatsApp messages with several CEFC China Energy executives where he claimed to be sitting and discussing business with his father Joe Biden, we sought permission to follow up on the information in the messages,” Shapley said. “Prosecutors would not allow it.”

When pressed on this, Shapley said there “were multiple instances in this investigation where there are references to the father of the subject, President Biden.” 

“And in the course of any normal investigation, when the subject’s father is somehow related to the finances of the subject,” Shapley said. “Now, in the normal course of any investigation, we would have to go and get that information to properly vet the financial flows of money in that investigation to determine what we end up charging.” 

During the hearing, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said the whistleblowers’ testimony confirms much of his committee’s findings throughout its six-month-long investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings. 

Ziegler confirmed that between 2014 and 2019, the Biden family received approximately $17 million from Romania, China, and other foreign countries.

“What were the Bidens’ selling?” Comer said. “Nothing but influence and access to the Biden network.”

Sams responded with a joke. “Your caps lock is stuck on,” he said.

The highly-anticipated hearing comes amid a joint-congressional investigation by the Oversight Committee, Judiciary Committee and House Ways and Means Committee into the federal probe into Hunter Biden and whether prosecutorial decisions were influenced by politics.
